Two Snaps Up For The ACT!!

D took the SAT twice (with benefit of private tutor). She didn't do horribly, but she didn't break through, you know? Got a decent improvement on the reading section on the second attempt, got the exact same score on math. Her scores placed her out of the 50 percentile range of the reach schools she wanted.

Her dad and I were ready to throw in the towel, seeing little benefit to a third SAT attempt. D decided to have a go with the ACT. No tutor, just doing her own review using what she had learned about test-taking from the SAT.

Results came in today: D is now within the 50 percentile range for every reach school on her list except one!!!!! :huge fist pump:

The moral of our story is the ACT really can work better for some kids. If the SAT doesn't show you off to best advantage, try the ACT.

Maybe this thing will have a happy ending after all . . . . .

The same was for my D. On SAT CR she couldn’t break even 600 even though on Math and Writing the scores were almost perfect (780, 770). And she took it twice with the same results, but on ACT she got 36 on Reading section! I agree with cindysphinx, try both tests!
