Two Transfers?

Hi guys,

I'm entering a smaller & average state school in NY this fall, a decision I already regret. Since SUNY's are pay by semester, I'm considering a transfer to the University at Buffalo for a few reasons (better academics, much much better environment, etc.).

My real goal is NYU CAS, and I'd like to attempt to transfer there after 1.5-2 years. The question is, will the admissions committee look down upon a student who has already transferred?

Thanks for the help.

People in state schools transfer around, I think the REASON you transfer is important- a change in major, etc

Just an aside, why did you apply to the school you are going to if you don't like it and already regret it...this is not a judgement, but your story is reflected all over CC, and maybe your story can help others make their choices

I applied to a number of private schools on the East Coast. I was accepted into most, but after visiting & speaking to current students, I felt they simply didn't fit. Unfortunately, I didn't explore the safety school aspect of applying quite enough, so I'm stuck going to a smaller state school.

Aside from location, it's an alright school, but Buffalo offers courses in Irish history. That's one of the main reasons I'd be transferring. NYU has an outstanding Irish Studies program through Glucksman Ireland House, and I hope this will be an indicator of my intent to work hard in that discipline.
