DD1 is deep in the throes of writing final papers and doing projects. Two weeks to graduation! Then she is off into the "real world"...

Amazing, congratulations, and best wishes! I’m finding it hard to believe in 2 weeks D2 is half-way through her college career.

That’s where we are with DD2 who, fortunately, will be out of school in time to attend big sister’s graduation. Does your D2 have plans over the summer Z?

Erin’s Dad, Z, and all … we too are in both joyful and minor mourning modes as we look forward to 15 May and our final visit to Granville, at least as tuition-paying parents! We shall join you and yours in celebrating the great news of work well done. Ours is finishing in 3 years, heading off to a doctoral program at the place of choice. We are so pleased and proud, and wishing same good things for all DU families. With many more ups than downs, DU has served well. :D

Even before the economic downturn, Whit’s began planning for some recession, knowing we’d not be fueling their coffers. :(

D2 will be on campus this summer, doing research in one of the chemistry labs. She was home last summer, also doing research at a local cancer research facility and hospital; I kind of hoped she might want to do that again. But as she’s been invited to join one of the labs on campus, and got a summer research fellowship, it’s a good thing for her to do. And she’s never lived through a midwest summer. (All part of my overall plot to get her to look back to CA for grad school!)

LOL. Good plan Z.

And Congrats WP on your DD getting through in 3 years. Good luck on the PhD.

Thanks.

Re: the California "dreamin’ " thing … hopefully a DU education would be sufficiently instructive to encourage ma n pa to come to the wonderful Midwest! Where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the students are above average. And the states aren’t all bankrupt!

“Please come to Granville in the springtime …”

I am a native daughter of the golden west – but actually grew up in Illinois. Yes, the midwest has its charms; but D is ready to come home to bankrupt CA …
