This question is faulty comparison. However, I'm not sure whether the answer is C or D.

(A) Before becoming essential for their ability
(B) Up until it becoming popular for its ability
(C) Before having become popular for their ability
(D) Before it becoming popular for its ability
(E) Before it became popular for its ability

What is the answer?
"Facebook" is singular, so we may use "its" instead of "their".

1-D
2-E

I believe .

I would actually say 1-C and 2-E. “Oral tradition” is singular (highlighted by the use of “has” vs. “have” in the non-underlined portion. So although C sounds kind of bad, it’s the only correct one (at least I think).

For 2, Facebook is singular, ruling out A and C. B and D are just incorrect grammatically. So it’s E.

Yep I got mixed up its C
