Tyler School of Art Portfolio Scholarship

Scholarship committee is still reviewing candidates and decisions should be available hopefully by the end of next week. My daughter has been emailing back and forth with Tyler’s admission office and shared this piece of info she got from an email. She was admitted to Tyler at Portfolio Day in NYC in November and officially to Temple in January. She is already getting $36,000 in merit aid but a portfolio scholarship would help a lot since we are out of state.

When you say $36,000 do you mean the Founders Scholarship, $9000 a year for 4 years? @JerseyMom2022

Yes. That was it. So sorry for the confusion. $36,000 over 4 years.

Got this information off of an old CC post (as in pre-budget cuts and prior to the change in administration). Does anyone here know if the art school still gives 20 scholarships including some full rides?

“TYLER SCHOOL OF ART offers 20 talent based scholarships ranging from $3,000.00 per year to full admission.”

Wondering if anybody has heard about the portfolio scholarship yet? My DD just got her official acceptance a few days ago–and we’re eager to hear about the scholarship. :slight_smile:

@BklynParent
Let me know if you find out anything. I just assumed my daughter didn’t get one. Haven’t heard a peep

I’ll post here if we find out anything. So far, nothing. ?

My daughter got a letter saying that she wasn’t picked for the Tyler portfolio scholarship but that she was a strong candidate. It included a ‘certificate of merit’. I am assuming everyone who didn’t win will get one of those. Kinda like a ‘participation trophy’.Lol. She did however get a good portfolio scholarship from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers. Which is nice.

@JerseyMom2022 lol when my D applied she also received the letter of merit. Kinda silly I thought since who needs to know that? But she loves Temple and Tyler. Foundation year was tough and getting into the GAID program was tougher but she’s happy and learning a lot!
