I am basically worried at this point, that I will be an unhappy person attending UIC. Academically, I think I can figure it out at any school, but in terms of the social environment, or the general vibe of the school, I am completely lost! Help!!
I have a friend who commutes to UIC, and she’s among the 70% of students who do not live on campus. So as you can see, UIC doesn’t stress a huge campus life.
I visited UIC for an interview not too long ago, and I was at SCE eating while there was a homecoming parade sort kind of thing going on. Honestly, no one was paying attention. So in terms of school spirit, I would say that UIC is also lacking.
UIC isn’t a huge party school like Urbana, but your social experience if what you make of it. They value diversity, so I believe that if you put yourself on there and be active in clubs, your social life will be okay.
