Type of Work Experience Important?

I'm currently an undergrad at UC-Berkeley looking towards PhD programs in political science...I have the unique opportunity of graduating early, so I was wondering what sort of activities I should do after graduation that would help with Poli Sci PhD admissions. Surely an investment banking post (which I am considering) would not be looked upon favorably by admissions committees, would it? But then what would? An internship at the mayor's office? Perhaps interning for a federal court judge?

Thanks for ur help!

bump???? :(

I'll start off by saying I don't know anything about Poli Sci and actually never took any Poli Sci classes in post-secondary education.

I would suggest moving to D.C. and getting internships with legislatures...it would also help if you knew what you want to do with your Poli Sci PhD and maybe ask your professors. Professors are a wealth of knowledge and were in your shoes years back and can give you a good idea on what you need.

wouldn't assisting a professor in his poli sci research paper be more helpful for PhD admissions than any professional activity would be? PhD admissions are looking for activities related to academia I would think, and also, you get the research and writing experience (important) and close work with a poli sci professor (= good letter of rec... from probably a very good prof too since you go to berkeley).
