Im wondering what types of classes do you take as a Finance Student?

corporate finance, capital markets, money and banking, risk management, investments, portfolio management, financial statement analysis (actually accounting), real estate, derivatives, etc. It depends on what you want to get into, but those are just a general idea about what you'll be learning.

i am a finance student and redhare317 has got it right. in addition, CoMp1eX, if you want an idea of what classes we finance students take just browse through some college websites.

Oh ok, thanks alot. Is this a more math oriented major or is it mainly business-type classes? Also, what are your career goals? I-banker, adviser, consultant, ect?

it involves math but nothing beyond calculus I. finance majors take on classes that involve utilization of your analytical skills, from reading financial statements down to preparing financial models.

as for goals, i'm planning on heading towards investment banking or investment management. if you are considering this route, i urge you to check out www.career-in-finance.com

to answer your question, this is more math related similar to that of accounting. management, marketing...those classes don't compare to that of accounting and finance.
