So I'm currently hammering out the fine details of my common apps, and I just realized that all three of my recommenders teach Math and Science. Will this hurt me as a competitive applicant?

Thanks

Generally, the more selective the school the more important to show your strength in all academic areas. It’s fine to be a lopsided student, but for selective schools you still need to be a very good student in all areas. That’s the thinking behind getting recs from teachers in several areas.

Some schools suggest or even require recs from different areas. Check your particular schools’ requirements. If your schools don’t mention seeking recs from teachers in different subjects, you should be fine with these recs.

Also, many colleges don’t even require recs or only want one. So, you’ll want to get familiar with the app requirements at each of your schools before deciding which recs to send.

i think it’s fine…i had three recommendations and they were all science teachers, and i got into uchicago early action…you’ll be okay!
