I've always been a more "dressy" kind of guy (Express Men is my favorite store). I like wearing polos, leather jackets, jeans, nice sneakers, cardigans, etc. (Hopefully you get the picture). But I'm going off to college soon, and I'm not sure that style will exactly roll well. It's not like I wanna be a poser, but I don't wanna stick out like a sore thumb either. So what I need help from you guys is some suggestions as to what stores to start looking at to perhaps change my wardrobe. And it's not like I don;t mind looking more casual, on the contrary I would have no problem with it, I'm just curious as to what brands or stores (both clothes and shoes) are famous among typical, chill, college guys.

Cardigans are alright, nothing wrong with that. Polos are nothing wrong. Jeans aren’t wrong. Nice sneakers aren’t wrong.

Nothing you wear is wrong.

I exclusively wear American Eagle :P

I wear t-shirts from Bob’s, Target, sports authority, and such. I mostly wear basic shirts and polos. No fancy designs just a basic small logo. Then I wear cargo shorts.
When it’s colder I wear a long sleeve shirt just like the ones above or polos. Then I wear jeans. I’ll wear a a sweatshirt or jacket of needed.
I wear basketball shoes year round.

Eh, I like Cardigans, and don’t give a single shiznet about what people thinks about them. On the other hand, girls were mirin my looks inside the cardigan (lol i bought my first one at the beginning of school so it was a new style for me)

American Eagle seems to be a popular store. For some reason I’ve never like paid attention to it…

Please don’t change your style! Well dressed guy = hot. I especially love the leather jacket and dark jeans look on guys. Just because you’re going to college, it doesn’t mean that you have to start wearing t-shirts/polos and khakis (too frat boy-ish). Trust me, girls love well put together guys.

I see, but at the same time, I don’t wanna seem like the “try hard, too dressy” kind of guy. I have NO problem adding things to my wardrobe to maybe give a more laid back typical college dude appearance.

Don’t regress your style to “casual” just to fit in. On any campus there are going to be a few guys who over do it and a few who just dress nicer than most people - be one of those kids and own it with your swag.

If you wear it right a suit is casual so just do your thing. If you feel awkward because your wearing a cardigan than your probably going to look awkward so just be comfortable.

If you are curious though just walk around american eagle you’ll see everyone dressing like that most of the time.

I’m not trying to necessarily “fit in” but wouldn’t a cowboy feel weird in an office? I know thats a kind of extreme analogy, but hopefully you see where I’m coming from. Who’s to say I’m regressing? I just want to update my wardrobe to have some clothes that will allow me to relate to most of the guys on campus.

Jeans, Polos, sneakers…these aren’t exactly going to make you stick out in a college environment. Do you attend a school located in the Amazon rainforest or someplace else where this apparel is uncommon?

You’re fine.

just wear what you’re wearing right now. not all college dudes dress like frat boys, you’ll probably find someone who dresses/shares a style with you.

just please don’t be one of those dudes who wears a waistcoat (vest).

Son,

Just continue what you wear in college. The styles you see in college varies so much, you can get away with whatever you wear.

And for Pete’s sake, if you’re gonna wear items from American Eagle, don’t wear huge logo t-shirts. . .stay classy.

PS–You seem to have good taste in fashion.

More guys should dress like you. Express Men would be my favorite store too if I were a guy. You’ll probably get more girls than by fitting in, as long as you seem straight.

^^^ what’s wrong with vests?
