Is it true that Yale students are generally very eloquent and outgoing?
Does it matter if you are not so good at talking and debating(especially for interviews)?
Are they looking for such students? And how do they know, from teachers' letters, interviews?
Thank you!

Yale looks for a variety of students – the most determining factor is will they contribute to the Yale community and take advantage of Yale resources. Does this generally mean outgoing? Probably. But I met many quiet folks there. Eloquent? Who knows – definitely above-avg communicators – and hungry to engage others.

Does it matter if you’re not a good talker? One might say you could have limited potential to affect others, no? But interviews aren’t mandatory.

Your teachers will speak about how much influence you have among your classmates and hopefully include positive anecdotes. Your EC accomplishments will reflect your level of engagement as well.

Not everyone is engaging. That’s OK. But then, not everyone is a viable Yale applicant either.
