Typing on college applications

How do you fill out college application forms by typing instead of handwriting the information? I've heard that it looks nicer if you type on your application instead, but I don't know how.

Thanks!

Typewriter?

Get adobe acrobat professional (trial edition) and make text boxes.

You can also scan them and just use plain old Paint on your computer (or whatever basic drawing/painting program your comp is equipped with) to fill in the blanks. It really isn't that hard. I did it for my teacher recs, but filled out my apps online.

Do the online app and print it out to send by mail if you're not comfortable with online submission (though there really isn't a reason not to be...it's so easy). Many schools also have PDF versions of their apps online for you to download.

Photoshop works well because it can open PDFs
