Typos in Admissions Essay?

Hi Everyone!

I applied to the University of Chicago EA around mid-October, but just recently, I was reviewing my application when, to my horror. I discovered 3 typos in my personal statement.
Specifically, "friend" should've been "friends", "unprecendented" should've been "unprecedented", and "percieved" should've been "perceived".

I was writing the essays on a word processor with SpellCheck disabled (really stupid, I know), and turned in the application at 1 in the morning because I had originally planned a very strict schedule for myself and I was already frustrated for falling behind by a few days. All of the supplementary essays are grammatically fine, though. I've created an alternate Common App form with the typos fixed for Regular Decision schools in case I'm not accepted.

How much do you think this will hurt me? Is it worth emailing the admissions office to let them know I'm aware of these mistakes?

OMG! I found two grammatical mistakes in my essay, too! I was looking over them a few days ago and found the mistakes right in the middle of one of my supplemental essays. But I doubt they will make a huge impact on our application.

Chill. I am sure almost all applicants will have typos. Don’t worry about it, I’ve made it a point not to look at my app cause I’m sure I’ll find a mistake and freak out about it.

Don’t worry about it. I’m a current first year at UChicago and had a few typos in my essay which I thankfully only spotted after I had received my decision or else I would have freaked out, too. Chances are, if you didn’t catch the typos, an admissions officer reading lots of essays per day won’t catch them either. And if s/he does, I definitely don’t think it will make or break the app. Good luck!
