i received this email too…im really confused on what it means because i know some people didnt get it.

i didnt get the email but i already received acceptance (regents candidate)

My D got the email, and she is a prospective business major, so we were confused by that. She has a 2310, a 4.27 GPA. She was not selected as a Regent Scholar, but has already been admitted to UCI into the Honors College. So, I don’t really know who got this email.

My caucasian son was invited to this, which seems unusual. He has signed up, but has a conflict that day with a school event. We are wondering how useful the information is at this event. If it is helpful in deciding about CAL, we will go. If it’s more a sales job or a feel good event, we might skip it and wait to see if he is admitted to engineering and attend Cal Day in April. Any feedback from someone who has attended would be very much appreciated.

What is unusual?

I’m just trying to understand the event, the audience and the purpose. Not much information is out there.

Did anyone go to the session today?

I know that a lot of people who applied to science, math, and engineering majors and did not get the letter, so they couldn’t have sent 12,000 of them… Maybe it means something?

yeah, idk i went to the so cal session and there were probably around 250ish applicants there… seems weird that inviting 12000 would yield that small of a number of people attending

Of anyone who attended these events, what did you think about them? Are they worth the time? Is it your typical fanfare event (UCB is the best, blah, blah…)?

Thank you.

I got it and I applied to L&S. Half white, Half Chinese, girl.

I went to the one in L.A. There was a panel of professors and students answering questions. They said it had nothing to do with getting in to the school… It looked like most of the people were minorities

I went to the LA one too. It was very informative but kinda annoying because they were making it seem like u got in because it was all UCB info yet I know I probably didn’t and they stressed that it had nothing to do with admissions. It was weird, and they never gave any indication as to how the people invited were selected except that the coalition thought it would be a good match or something like that.
