What can we expect?

Interesting video. Talented, confident speaker.

Twin sons: One at the University of Wisconsin-Madison & the other at NYU.

I love his tie, Vandy colors!

UChicago parent here with a fair amount of knowledge about Vanderbilt. Chancellor Diermeier spoke at child’s convocation. He’s a confident, talented scholar and administrator. UChicago is similar to Vandy in that both are urban, both have excellent undergrad “colleges” with significant, highly ranked graduate and professional schools. He’s also been a highly regarded teacher, and, at Northwestern, he was exposed to big time athletics. He’s the second UChicago provost (Rosenbaum - CalTech) of the last three who has gotten a significant promotion. From what I can see, Pres. Rosenbaum is doing well at CalTech. UChicago also had the complexity of Federal labs and institutes (Fermilab, Argonne) which I don’t think Vandy has. At UChicago, he experienced all of the complications and opportunities of the modern top level research university located in a large urban area, minus Division I athletics.
He should do well for Vandy.
