U Chicago Summer Session '12

I got this in the mail about 2 weeks ago. Since my summer will be particularly short this year, I could only do the Insight program in which you take a 3 week class. I am low middle-class, is it really expensive? Also would this be a significant boost in college admissions, or be little or no effect? Thanks guys in advance!

Yes, it’s expensive; you can find the costs on the college website. Classes are like $3000, and housing is ridiculously expensive if you don’t have an apartment in the area. No, it won’t affect your admissions for the most part.

Summer schools by in large have a minuscule affect on your admission chance.

But, if you are going to summer school to take, let’s say, abstract math or some seriously high-level college courses, totally different story.

oh okay thanks guys for the info

You can PM me for more info - I did the Intensive language program a few years ago. It probably won’t give a huge boost in admissions, but it was a great experience, if your parents can easily afford it and/or you are able to get a scholarship of some sorts.
