U Maryland College Park acceptance?

Has anyone from Massachesetts received UMDCP acceptance letters? D hasn't heard yet.

Has she tried checking on-line? Decisions were posted over the weekend.

I have received my admission letter. It comes with a University of Maryland magnet!

I haven’t received my letter yet and I live in PA but I was accepted online. It said I was invited into the honors college too!

O my gosh! It appears that admissions never recieved or recorded the SAT scores that were sent last Oct/Nov. The office is closed again today, so we’ll have to wait till tomorrow to see what happened. This is D’s first choice, and she was hoping for early acceptance and possibly honors?? Math SAT 750. Oh well, if this happens, then maybe it’s not the right school - a bit dissorganized? She has Honors acceptances from UVM, Binghamton, UMass Amherst and Miami Ohio. Loves the terps though! Thanks for your replys.

jmburke, wow i am sorry that happened to your D. I applied RD and i checked my documents recived and the test scores STILL haven’t been recieved although they have been sent on January 8th according to collegeboard. I am definetly calling them tommorrow as well because the odds of me being accepted are somewhat stacked against me so i don’t need this too lol. I hope they realize their mistake and let your daughter in or at least push her into the RD pool.

Really? Whenever I check in I get this:
“We are unable to offer you a decision on your application at this time. You will be contacted as soon as the decision process is complete.”
Is that bad?

Deeps - Did you apply priority or RD? RD isn’t out yet. If you applied priority and you haven’t received an acceptance letter (or letter of deferment or rejection) and the website says that, you should definitely give admissions a call.

Yeah I applied priority. I’ll definitely give admissions a call.

41% according to diamondback online (check out their recent article on Priority Admissions).

jmburkey - the fact that the scores may have been lost in the mail and/or admission pile is not going to weigh against your D, no worries.

Simply contact the office and see what to do - I sure it is as simple as resending the scores.

The, ahem, bureaucracy at Maryland can be quite overwhelming, depending on your major of choice. And yes, somewhat disorganized. But the fact of the matter is this is the case for all large schools, as far as I can see.

(Though I see from your list there are also some smaller universities your D is considering, so perhaps your comment has some validity! It kills me that I didn’t apply to some smaller schools…but there is of course, always a trade-off…no doubt Maryland is in a really exciting location, has hundreds of great programs and activities to get involved with, etc.)

Hi,
I put in a transfer app in late January, I applied early acceptance (before march 1). I have yet to receive anything in the mail. Should I be worried? When I called UMDCP after the freak snow storms they said they were behind.

Also, I mailed 3 letters of recommendation. Online under check received documents it says 4 of 4 recommendation form teachers. What do you think is the reasoning behind that?

Okay - my mistake. Julia actually sent all the documentation required to College Park last October. She had teacher recommendations etc. etc. My only job was to send the SAT scores (it requires a credit card payment ot CollegeBoard of course), and I mistakenly sent the scores to UM College at a different address. I got a confirmation that scores had been sent, and I never followed up on the UM College Park web site. It wasn’t untill Februay that we discovered the error, and I had to resend the scores. I don’t even know if she’ll be considered for Fall of 2010, let alone recieve merit aid. Too bad, Julia really likes UMD, but she’s got a great attitude about all this. U Dell has offered merrit and honors, as well as UMass and UVM.

Well I got my letter last week, so I’m guessing that they’re starting to send them out now. Good Luck everyone!!!

hey deeps13, did you apply regular decision? I thought we had to wait till April 1st to find out…i’m anxiously waiting

I don’t remember, but I finished my app in December. Hopefully that helps!

I put in an application for graduate school there September of 2013 I’ve yet to hear anything back from them … I’ve looked online and it says “your application has been submitted it’s currently being reviewed or will be” kinda worries me don’t know what to expect and why I haven’t gotten a letter yet I live in PA
