U Mich Chances

I'm applying quite late to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and the University of Washington, and I was wondering if my chances are significantly hurt by this:

stats:
Asian Male, California

SAT: 1550/2350

GPA : 3.74 uw, 3.94 w

SAT II Scores:
Literature: 780
Math IC: 750
Math IIC: 750

AP:
Statistics: 4
English Language: 4

EC:
School Newspaper : Newspaper Editor, Associate Editor, Board of Directors (9-12)

Red Cross (9-12)
Club Treasurer (10,11,12)
Art Classes (9-12)
Speech Team (10-12)
National Merit Semifinalist

Also, does declaring a pre-professional focus affect admissions chances? Does declaring a major affect admissions chances?

Applying this late does hurt your chances. What is your U of M GPA? (UW, no +s or -s) You have a chance if you showed dedication to your ECs, as your tests scores and GPA are good. Rank would be nice to know. It is easier to get in to LSA than engineering, you might want to apply to LSA and transfer after freshman year.
