As a California resident attending a ccc, would I be at a disadvantage to apply to Michigan (3.4 history major). I know that certain state schools are nearly impossible to transfer into out of state (UC's, Virginia), while other state schools (UNC) are generally the same if you are in/out of state. I would assume that Michigan lies somewhere in between, but as I'm taking 23 credits this semester, and workin my ass off, I don't wanna devote time to filling out an application for a school I probably wont get into. Insight? Thanks :)

how many classes are you taking, 7?

You're right, Michigan for OOS isn't impossible like some California schools, but isn't easy in any respects.

What's your total amount of credits? I'm assuming if this is your first year, it should be around 40~ if you're taking 23(!)...

That being said, the application is due on March 1st. While a 3.4 would be slightly on the low end, it is within the range of the competitive students that get in.

From what I've heard, I've been quoted that UMich average transfer GPA ranges from a 3.3 - 3.5 and as high as a 3.7 one year.

So personally, I think you have a decent chance, depending on credits, and possibly HS stats.

Yes I'm taking 23...and this is my second year. I needed to get 60 before the end of spring to satisfy the UC requirements. Thanks for the responses.
