Does anyone know about the scholarship notification process? Has anyone received anything yet? If you have, what have you gotten?

I heard that u hear about this stuff in April. What college did u apply to, I did engineering.

You’ll hear way before April if you get a scholarship.

What are the stats of people who usually receive scholarship?

I have 2350 SAT (superscore, so 2300 non-superscore), 800x2 SAT II, 42/45 IB predicted, lots of ECs, 2000 hours of community service.

Also, I applied Ross pre-admit. What do you think?

Could you get a scholarship with a 35 ACT?

Did you apply for the Honors program, or do they chose you? When would you find out?

Please elaborate

I was notified about a scholarship in December, and they asked me to accept/decline by late February (just so they can have a rough count of how many people will take the money, it’s not a binding decision to attend UM). A friend got notification in March, which probably means that they do it in waves.

Of course, we had ER back then, and I was admitted in late October…

@dopp23 Once you get accepted to Mich, you can write the essay and turn it in so they can consider you. The prompts are on the Honors website.

after you fill out your FAFSA/CSS profile, when do we find out if we get financial aid? or merit aid/grants…? ): my parents are really worried because my sister pays full tuition already

My friend heard that he was receiving a scholarship in December or January, but that was back in 2007. It was some sort of full-tuition diversity scholarship for being hispanic or something, though, not strictly a merit scholarship.

I applied and was accepted to the BME program. I just want to know about possible scholarships b/c its a big part of my decision

In response to the question about honors–they issue invitations to apply for the honors program. My S just got an email about it. The website says they typically issue those invitations within a few weeks of the accpetance notice, however given the timing of decision emails and the honors email coming today, who knows!

how do they notify you of scholarships/merit aid? i really would like to pay my deposit because michigan is my #1 choice, but money will of course hugely affect that

^They send you a letter in the mail notifying of scholarships.

No one needs to pay their deposits until they’ve compared financial packages from ALL of their schools – DO NOT feel pressured to do so – it’s a law governing universities that they have to give you until May 1 to decide.

Also, re financial aid package (from the concerned poster):
- Make sure your parents file their income tax return ASAP in the new year.
- Make sure you file the FAFSA online as early as possible in the new year.
- For FAFSA, now that both you and your sister are in school, your “EFC” (expected family contribution) will be halved for each of you, meaning you each may qualify for more assistance (are you in state or out of state?)
- IF you file early, don’t make mistakes, etc. the earliest you’re likely to see a financial aid package is mid March, the latest is mid April.

^THANK YOU!!
and i am OOS :(
