U Michigan

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you know out-of-state averages for UM-Ann Arbor. This would be particularly helpful if you were admitted as an out-of-state student. Any other application tips would be greatly appreciated as well.

I don't know any averages , but i was admitted as an OOS student.
My stats:

Background:
white male from Maryland

GPA:
3.7 UW (honors/AP courses the whole way thru)
4.7 W (we had a wacky weighted system so take this lightly)

SAT:
2000 (superscored)
SAT II:
Math I: 730
US History: 600

EC:
mainly sports
varsity soccer(3 years) and wrestling(2 years)
NHS
hospital volunteering
a few meaningless clubs

when (what month) did you apply? Also, if you don't mind sharing, what were your individual SAT scores? And lastly, can you check the message I sent you? THANKS!

UMICH is pretty easy to get into. if you are in the top 10% of your class and at least a 29 ACT they barely even read your APP.

isn't nhs a meaningless club?

i think Umich is pretty easy to get into. Wasn't their acceptance rate close to 50%? I think it's thier business school that's really hard. My friend got in with a 1510 old SAT, but he barely had any EC's at all.

keep in mind 50% is mostly in-state
but it's still not hard to get into compared to UVA, UC berkeley

Ha, applying to UVA from outta state is going to be interesting...as far as NHS goes, at least at our school, it isn't meaningless. Our members have logged several thousand hrs of community service and have done clothing drives to 4 different countries. But I guess it would depend on who is running/advising the club and how motivated the students are. Whatever the case, colleges love it. Also, I heard UM accepts something like 25% from out-of-state. No one from my school has ever gone there though. Do you think that could be an advantage?

Oh? How many years have you been working as an admissions reader?

I'm in state dumby. about 15% of my class goes to michigan, and does every single year. We're a feeder school. I know the demographics very well.
