Just wondering whether they've started sending out rejection letters ... The waiting to hear is excruciating ... This is son's #1.

My son got his acceptance letter in the mail today and we’re in Texas. Hope that helps and best of luck!

Congrats to your son TexasMom2015…

Congrats to everyone who has received their acceptance, and especially to all the hardworking scholarship recipients! It is disheartening to see all the happy news, and to have an app tracker stuck on “Your complete app was received Nov. 1. All students blah blah blah by the end of February.” It is feeling that they are sending out the acceptances, and waiting until the end of February for the rejections.

We just figured that 3.4 uw and 29 ACT, with hockey (of course) and LAX, along with some service work, would position Son well. Especially with his acceptance to UIUC. We are from Illinois, and UIUC was his first choice, until he visted UMinnesota. Aw well, it feels like he’ll being attending his back up at this point …

^HockeyMom…What college is your S applying to, and what is his class ranking? It seems from the profile of admitted students from last fall that the class ranking is looked at more than the actual GPA number, but that’s just a guess on my part. A 29 ACT score would look to put him solidly in-line for any college other than CBS or CSE, and only 1 point below the average ACT score for those two. Is his 3.4 weighted or unweighted? If his class rank is fairly solid, I think he’d stand a good chance especially with good EC’s. We’ve found the admissions folks to be very friendly and helpful when we’ve called, so it might be worth a call just to see if they can give you an idea where he stands. They probably can’t give you decision over the phone unless one has already been made, but it might give you some peace of mind. Having UIUC is a great fall back to have in any case. Congrats to your S!! Good Luck!!

Son’s 3.4 is both weighted and unweighted (3.41 UW and 3.47 W - only took 8 Honors classes, no APs). He applied undecided. He attends a very competitive high school on Chicago’s suburban northshore. High school does not rank, and his 3.4 only puts him in the top 40% or so. There are many brilliant and hardworking students at his school with 4.5+W gpas and perfect 36 ACT scores, so he has never felt terribly smart, only average, and not hearing from Minnesota yet is hard.

^Keep the faith HockeyMom. He’s done very well, and Adcoms do look at competitiveness of high schools during the review process. It doesn’t make the waiting any easier, but at least it won’t take until April like some schools do to make a decision.

Um. Me. Sorta. I applied to CSM, they didn’t ‘deny’ me, but they told me I was accepted to CLA. Absolutely devastating to me.

I sent my application in in the middle of October and received my acceptance letter a few weeks ago, but have not received any scholarship information at all. They take a little while to get back to you, and then you also have to factor in the Winter Break that I’m sure the admissions committee also took. I’m sure you’ll hear soon as they should be back in session with reviewing applications.

I have a 29 on my ACT, and I got into Carlson. That score is something to be proud of, so don’t let your son think it’s not good. And the extra curriculars are definitely a huge boost. I don’t think he should have any problems. What school within the U is he applying too?

I haven’t heard of ANY rejections to this school yet… based on people I have known who have applied here in years past(I live near the cities, lots of people at my school apply) they hold out to send the rejections in Feb. I have not heard of a single rejection so far, but I will let you know when mine comes.
