U of Chicago Early action question-Please help

If I am applying early action (vs Early decision) to Chicago, do you all think I will have less or more of a chance of being admitted through early action if I am applying for financial aid. I do not know if we will get much (if any) financial aid, so would it be better to not apply for financial aid (they make you check that box on the Common App, asking if you plan to apply for financial aid) when going Early Action since I probably will not qualify for any aid anyways.

Thank you for your help. RIght now, I am not ready to apply ED. I wish Chicago did not have so many admission choices for this year.

UChicago is need blind. It will make difference whether or not you check the box.

Thank you for replying. Yes they are need blind, but since you have to check on the common app if you are applying for aid, won’t the admissions committee see that you are applying for (some) aid, and will you be put into a different “pile” of applicants that are applying for aid (even if you might not get any aid or be eligible for aid)

Need blind is a philosophy — not a trick or info that Chicago is trying to tease out of its applicants. They are dedicated to admitting without regard to applicants’ fin aid application or not. You’re fine either way.

Thank you for your reply.

@hpq123 they ask that so they know whether or not to charge you the application fee, not so that they can put you in a different “pile”

Thank you everyone for your replies and your help!
