So... I'm not sure which would do better for me as a person in my future.
University of Chicago and their Business Undergrad program, or create a Business Administration degree for Undergrad at Vandy? I'll go to the same school for Grad school as well, so which would serve me better in the future?

UChicago… where fun goes to die.

What even is UChicago’s “Business Undergrad program?” What is the major/degree?

Neither school is renowned at all for a “business” degree, since neither offer one… So it’s hard to say at all. UChicago is very well known for econ though. Vandy offers a much better college experience.

How/why do you plan to go to the same school for grad school…? If that’s the case for some reason, UChicago quite clearly has the better grad school, but you could go there no matter where you went for undergrad…

Is there still a program at Vanderbilt where undergrads can begin taking business school classes at Owen their junior/senior year and finish with a combined BS/MBA in 5 years? That could be a point in favor of VU.
University of Chicago is clearly an outstanding institution, both their undergrad and their business school and that name will carry you far in the business world. However, it does have the rep as a very serious (not fun) place and the winters in northern Illinois on the lake are brutal. Vanderbilt would offer you a more “typical” college experience with SEC sports, active Greek life for undergrads, primarily residential campus, etc. and, usually no snow in the winter. Whether these other things are important to you is up to you.

Yes, there is still a 5 year bachelor’s + MBA program at Vandy. If your intention is to go to business school, you will probably be majoring in economics. Chicago has a renowned econ program, but Vandy’s is pretty good too. Chicago also has a better business school, although I don’t understand why you are set on getting your graduate degree from the same school you went to for undergrad. I think Vandy is a much better place to be an undergrad than Chicago, although both will position you well to get into a top business school.

As a vanderbilt student, I suggest you go to Chicago. Like you said, we don’t even have a formal undergraduate business program (the closest you get is econ). And to be honest, you’ll be much better off for networking and such from UChicago, since Nashville isn’t much of a fortune 500 powerhouse.

And lastly, for the career path you’ve chosen, name very much does matter, and UChicago takes the cake in that category as well.

Vandy isn’t a bad school, but it would be a loss in your position and career path.

As for UChicago being a hard school, that really comes down to your motivation and tolerance. Vandy isn’t “easy” by any means, though I’m sure you’ll be facing grade deflation at UChicago, which can hurt your GPA, and thus, hinder career progression (to some extent).

It really comes down to how confident you are in your abilities. On the assumption that you got into both of these schools, I’m sure you’ll be fine at either place.
