U. of Chicago

Hey guys, does anyone know if there are others schools like U Chicago? Schools that have awesome academics, prestige, etc. + an amazing acceptance rate? Thanks.

Be careful not to underestimate the selectivity of the University of Chicago. I have heard of 4.0 students with 1500+ SAT getting rejected, and I am not talking about exceptions either.

But, if you want to know of excellent schools with slightly higher acceptance rates, check out Johns Hopkins, Northwestern and the University of Michigan.

Actually Johns Hopkins and Northwestern have lower acceptance rates.

I know that SamLee, but among top 15 universities, they have slightly higher acceptance rates. I believe Northwestern and Johns Hopkins have acceptance rates that hover between 30% and 35%. Most schools of equal quality and reputation have acceptance rates under 25%. But UI will repeat my initial words of caution. One should not apply to any of those schools as a safety because top students frequently get turned down.

Reed's intellectualism is similar to UChicago. It is not known to MOST people. It is a rigorous LAC and to those that matter, it is well-regarded. It's not as ranked as high as LACs of equal caliber due to its criticism of USNews. I think the stats avg hover around 3.8 and ~1300.

I agree with spirited away. I'm applying to Reed ED II and UoC is one of my regulars. They're both highly rigorous and intellectual, but it depends if you want a LAC or university. Plus, there's Portland vs. Chicago...

Johns Hopkins, University of Rochester, and Rice. Cornell ED has a high acceptance rate, too, for an Ivy.

I think Rice has a pretty low acceptance rate...under 25% I think.
