Are you in US? If so, are there a lot of schools offering A levels in US (I assume these are British schools).

Nope, I’m in Asia but I do know that there are very few schools, if any, offering A levels in the US. It’s also not possible to take it as a private candidate according to some regulations.

The British International Schools are:
British School of Boston
British School of Chicago
British School of Houston
British School of Washington
British American School of Charlotte
British International School of New York

For those that go up to 12th grade, all of them offer the IB curriculum.

It is surprising you are doing so many different things like APs, SAT as well as A levels.

082349 - Congratulations on your offer. They asked for conditional in A levels inspite of your AP/SAT/ACT? What were your stats?

texaspg - thank you for the interesting piece of info in your post “From what I remember this year, the Oxford lady said if you are qualified for Oxford at the minimum required level, you should probably get into Edinburgh without conditions.”

So, does it imply they are no longer valid this year :-(

"Suffice it to say my kid’s SAT scores are superior to ones you listed. So I think they are just making them all conditional but I could be totally wrong. " -

so, your kid has 2250 plus and more than 3 800’s in SAT 2 and with 8 completed AP’s and still gets a conditional from Edinburgh- so does it mean they have decided to make it all conditional like Oxford this year??? Are you applying to US colleges also?

How do I quote posts? Can someone tell me…

query - I suspect that seems to be the case. They are not making the conditions onerous, just add conditions that are not supposed to be too hard like a 4 on AP or BBB (this might be harder).

Yeah, I’m thinking now I shouldn’t have.

Oh and I discovered some Florida schools offer the A-levels. It’s called the AICE there.
Yup, they did. Even texaspg’s child (who is super awesome, IMO) received a conditional offer. My stats are really not good compared to all of yours.

ACT - 35 Composite
AP - all 4s except for biology which I got a 3 ):

remove the exclamation mark. Try it! (:

You seem to be quite right there. BBB is quite attainable. In fact, it’s considered a very generous offer at my high school (mostly AAA offers here).

ACT 35 translates to 2340! That is very good score.

@cricket123,
I applied to Edinburgh only- 4 degree programs in Informatics (BEng in CS, BSc in CS, BSc in AI & CS and MInf in Informatics) and one program in Philosophy and Econ.
I have not gotten work yet on the Phil&Econ program, however I received conditional offers on the other four. The conditions were that I receive a High School diploma and made sure to send them my ACT and SAT2 scores (which I suppose they hadn’t received by the time I sent my UCAS in).

texaspg - you had mentioned you sent the AP score report as evidence to Edinburgh.

Can you please advise if

1) If you sent the copy by email?
2) If yes, did you send a copy as pdf to the admissions dept by email? Is it not necessary to send by post? Does it not need to be from Collegeboard?

Once they receive it, do they confirm receipt and UPDATE the track with the updated condition (by removing the condition) or how does it work? Do they update the track right away after they receive the proof?

thanks so much!!!

Were all your choices Edinburgh? Your offer is as good as unconditional!! Awesome! What are your statistics (AP/SAT/ACT)? Unconditional seems so rare this year!!!

@query123
Yes, all my choices were to Edinburgh.

Stats:

Lit 690-- meh. I retook this in November (have yet to receive the score), but I guess it was good enough for Edinburgh.
Math 2: 780
ACT: 33 Composite (and a 33 in each of the individual subjects)
I took no AP tests.

However, perhaps I should add that I wrote my essay about how much I loved CompSci based upon the Adv. CS class I took as a junior. (In addition to how qualified I was for the program blah blah blah. Plus, I’m a girl, if that helps any.)

I’m really liking the idea of MInf degree program . . .

abscalc - manchester asked for AP score report by mail. We scanned it and sent it by email. Edinburgh asked for official SAT scores. Collegeboard allows you send them.

Sheffield sent a conditional acceptance today (4 in calc BC). Imperial college sent a 30 minute test by email when we declined in person interview on February 1st.

Oxford sent a reject since my kid did not take a physics test required for engineering.

Congrats on sheffield! I got a conditional from Edinburgh for a 4 on AP chem or physics, or SAT subject test in those subjects to study biological sciences. Was hoping to get an unconditional with bio, psych, and math AP but I’m so excited!

texaspg mom - congrats on sheffield offer. What is the procedure to get collegeboard send official AP scores to Edinburgh or to other UK colleges? How did you send AP scores to edinburgh? official report from collegeboard or scanned email is acceptable?

Sorry to hear about Oxford reject. Does PAT not take place in your neighborhood? I guess PAT (physics test) is mandatory for engineering at oxford.
