U. of Illinois-Deferred-!

Hi, I just viewed the website status… and it says:

Decision: Deferred, Manual Review Required.

What does that mean?

Do I need to send anything?

I’m so feeling not good… I’m at UVA doing model united nation thing… and I feel like vomiting now…

Please reply. Any little thought is appreciated!

THanks!@

hey I got the same thing!

someone guessed that "every international student's application was kicked out of system and will be reviewed by some professionals"
but I am not sure.
what I am for sure is that " they do not make admission decison at the same day they receive your information"
they said that they got all of my information and ready for review,
and it said "deferred"..
don't worry..

It means that your application needs closer review. It does not mean you have been rejected...it means that you still have a chance. You haven't yet been accepted, but they see something there that they want to look at a little closer. So, don't panic yet. If you have any additional information that may strengthen your case - for instance, great mid-semester grades, an additional recommendation, a recent achievement - send it in! And, best of luck!

I hope that's the case. I'm permanent resident. The transcript was received yesterday, and the decision was made yesterday.

anybody had same experiences?

It means that you are not an immediate admit and that you may have to wait until after all applications are in (December 15 is the app deadline) before a final decision is made. This is a very typical process for UIUC. Large numbers are put in that category and a lot of those ultimately get admitted.

I got rejected from them last year. That was number 2 on my list and a lot from my school applied there

and I must have brightened your mood :/

Hmmm...since they only received your transcript yesterday, I am wondering if the reason they deferred you is that they simply didn't have your transcript in time to make a decision. In other words, your file was incomplete at the time it came up for review. You might give them a call and see if that's the case and, if so, when they will open your file for a second look.
