Below are some stats, but I would like to get into U of Michigan. I was wondering if Engineering was too much of a reach and whether or not I should apply for LSA just to be safe. I do not know what I want to major in but I have always leaned more towards engineering.
Female
In-State
34 ACT
1510 SAT but recently retook, felt good about it, hoping for higher

VP of Nonprofit I helped start, we held local events
NHS Board (there’s 500+ members so this is impressive)
Started Art Club and co-pres, recognized by state for local project
Part of cultural club, yearly cultural performances
3.86 gpa uw, 4.2 w
AP world, AP bio, AP chinese, AP micro, AP macro, AP gov, AP lang, AP calc BC, AP environmental, AP chem, AP java, AP physics, AP psych, dual enroll calc 3

Over the summer I plan to code an app with friends, volunteer at the humane society, and do an engineering related camp at a college
In state female with ACT 34 and SAT 1510+ should have no problem getting in. It is likely to be short from getting significant scholarship though. You should still be able to get the $1500 Regent scholarship.
your stats are really good for umich engineering school, and being an in-state female will definitely help! I say you have a really good chance of getting into umich engineering
I’d be very surprised if you were rejected. Weird stuff happens sometimes though. Good luck
With your stat, I would not recommend applying to LSA and then transfer to CoE later. The difference in admission chance between the 2 schools would be easily offset by the gender bias at CoE. In addition, you may either lose an opportunity to a school specific scholarship or lose the scholarship after transfer if you are eligible for one with improved score.
Thank you all. I was seriously considering LSA after one of the smartest guys I know (36 ACT, very ahead in math, math oly, so on) was rejected from CoE. Weird things happen, wondering if they just blew over his app
@glitteringworld is he in-state? maybe he didn’t show enough interest in his essays.
There are certainly ways to kill an application regardless of test scores and GPA. There were applicants too lazy to revise the CommonApp essay and had a wrong school name in it. Having said that, I am not surprise to see someone got rejected with ACT 35 or 36 particularly from OOS. That Tufts syndrome happens every year.
