I am a first generation college student, but would be applying out of state. I’m planning on retaking my ACT and SAT before applying early action. Any answers are greatly appreciated.
And just for clarification as to why I only took one AP course, my high school only offers 2 because we have an early college partnership with a university in my state. It allows us to take college courses on the high school campus. I have taken the following college classes with a college GPA of 3.5:
COMM 143 (Computer Applications)
SSKL 101 (Study Skills)
PSYCH 136 (Intro Psychology)
SOCL 129 (Intro Sociology)
HIMT 100 (Medical Terminology)
HIST 235/236 (World History)
HIST 139/140 (US History)
ECON 208 (Personal Finance)
ENGL 101/102 (Composition)
LITR 100 (Literature)
SSKL 106 (Career Exploration)
Hey there. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about U of M… However, being recently accepted to NYU, I can tell you that I’m almost positive that there is a VERY small chance NYU would accept you… Your ACT needs to bump up to AT LEAST a 28 to even be remotely considered and your GPA needs to be AT LEAST a 3.6 unweighted… Your extracurriculars are very good but I don’t think it would be enough… If you truly are interested, though, still apply! You never know what can happen! Just make sure you have some good safeties lined up! Best of luck!
