I have asked about U of M before and have another question. How accessible are the guidance consuelers? If this question has been asked before, please direct me to the topic.
With college costing so much I want to make sure I schedule right and know about oppurtunities to expand my education. Recently, I have found my high school guidance consueler very helpful looking into college.
I'm just wondering if GC at the school are accesible and helpful. And if you make appointments, how far in advance do you have to make them to get in? And if you have an appointment, do they make you feel rushed? I ussually ask a lot of questions and dislike feeling like I'm wasting some ones time. Thanks for the help.

The counselors are very readily available during the school year within certain hours that you can find on the LSA website. They do only have a set amount of time usually, because they have other appointments, but it’s just about always enough time. When you schedule your classes at orientation, they will be right there with you to help if you need assistance.

My son is a freshman in the honors program, and his advisor has been easily available to him (it is best to meet them at designated times). Additionally, for all his courses to date the profs and grad assistants all have been very helpful and available at designated hours to answer questions.

Honestly, I only ever hear things like “They’ve never helped me with anything.” Don’t rely on them for knowledge of what a specific class is like, or what employers expect etc. I feel like they only know things that can be answered on the Umich site or simply asking other students or making a couple phone calls. This is routinely listed as a weakness of the school, or any school.
