Hi all,

I got into both Michigan and Hopkins, but am not sure where to go. I was pretty sure I wanted to pursue medicine and a chemistry major at both universities, but with the passing of the healthcare bill I'm not sure I want to commit all that time anymore. I'm pretty sure I will change to a finance or other business major at both to keep my options open. So my real question is which university is more well rounded so that I will have a great shot at medical school and business school.

Thanks

Both are great, but Michigan is more well rounded IMHO.

if this is, indeed, what you want to do then michigan is the way to go.

I concur. Medical schools will not discriminate based on the fact that you went to one school over the other for undergrad. Michigan’s premed program is very competitive and it’s business school is much better than Hopkins’.

JHU does not yet have a Business program…although I remember reading somewhere that they are considering opening such a program. Either way, where Business studies are concerned, Michigan obviously trumps JHU.

For the Sciences, both schools are excellent, with JHU having the edge in the Biologicial Sciences and Michigan having the edge in the Physical Sciences. Either way, both schools are tough in the sciences and will offer a great premedical experience.

Overall, I tend to agree that Michigan is slightly more well rounded, but JHU is also pretty sweet.
