U of Maryland vs. BU?

I wanna go into medical school in the future. I was also accepted by UW but I figured it would probably make it more difficult to get into east coast medical schools in the future...and I love east coast & urban area...but regardless the environmental issues, which of UMD and BU would be better?

many thanx!

Well if you love urban and east-coast, you can’t get much more urban and east-coastish than BU. Is cost any issue at all?

BTW, which UW? Wisconsin or Washington? If cost isn’t an issue, I’m sure both of these could prepare you very well for medical school. Of course if staying on the east coase is important to you, that’s as good a reason as any not to go to the school but if getting into an east coast medical school is the only thing holding you back from going to UW (which ever one it is), I don’t think it will.

I am a proud graduate of Maryland… I didn’t even take my son there to visit or have him consider. While it can be a great school for certain majors and a certain lifestyle, my son also is looking at biology and potential future pre-med and Maryland didn’t product very high stats compared to many other schools for this education area.

No cost is not an issue…I was accepted by U of Washington, Seattle.
I heard that UW medical school doesn’t accept a lot of non-Washington state residents. So I thought that east coast medical schools might be the same…

Maryland is a great school.

I say BU, I’m from Maryland but personally am not a fan of the school/college park area… And I’ve heard the stats in bio etc aren’t yhat high also

No I think Washington has some thing where they largely only take students from Washignton, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska for their medical school or something like that because it’s basically the only medical school in those states or something like that. I’m pretty sure that’s a special case though and most places take students from all over. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Eastsider24[i luv ur name], so you think medical schools along the east coast will accept applicants only based on their GPA and MCAT score and everything like that…?

so someone said to me that while seeking admissions of med schools, undergrad internship experience matters a lot and you can’t get a lot in UW b/c there’re too few opportunities and too many people. Is it true?

If it is, then betw U of Maryland and BU, which is better? I personally favor the environment of BU but I’m not sure if the school has stronger pre-med, or health science related courses etc., than U Maryland.
