I've been accepted to both University of Miami and SUNY Binghamton for this coming fall, but I'm completely stuck as to which to choose. Obviously, there's a tremendous financial difference, but with scholarships, the gap's closing slightly. I've visited UM twice now (once for a tour, once to see classes) and love it, but at the same time I feel like I'm not giving Binghamton enough credit- I've only seen the school once, on a tour over the summer. I'm currently making arrangements to see Binghamton again and visit a class in a few weeks, but it's up in the air. Opinions?

This is especially frustrating as I'm also waiting to hear from Brown University (fat chance of getting in though) and, more realistically, College of William and Mary.

If it helps at all, I'm hoping to double-major in something along the lines of Public Relations/Administration and Psychology, minor in Creative Writing or Genetics, and take classes in Philosophy, Music, Theatre, Literature, and History.

what kind of social scene are you looking for. Also what is your preference for weather and where do you live currently. How much finaid are you getting from each school.

I'm looking for something with strong extracurriculars and a fairly strong social scene, but one that's still pretty studious too- I'm a geek at heart. I'm not into drinking or clubs, but I like being with big groups- usually just going out to dinner on occasion, or spending every weekend in Starbucks.

As far as weather, I really don't have a preferance; I can adjust pretty easily. I live in a mix of the two right now- a beach community in New York.

While money is a factor, it's not a deciding one at all. Miami's paying about half tuition right now.

im actually considering binghamton, so can you alums give as an explanation of why? and don't you think the quality of the university has changed since your graduations?

U Miami is great. A lot of my friends have parents who teach/work there.

Professors are also pretty good. Great social scene (it's Miami) and educational level is also nice, especially with honors. You can also apply for several accelerated studies programs.
