They gave me $22000 grant but the cost is still twice my family 's EFC calculated by FAFSA.
I ll be paying $22000 per yr which is $88000 debt out of undergrad and I plan on going to medical school. Is that a reasonable amount? Can I even pay that back without having to live off on topramen for next 274829 year of my life?

Should I call them and ask for more? If yes, what do I do?!

My parents aren't very supportive and I don't have any older siblings... This is all very new to me so please help. And thank you in advance :)

No that is not a reasonable amount for any undergrad, never mind one planning to attend med school. You can call and ask for more but may not get any. I would guess from your screen name you are OOS. What other schools are you looking at and what can your family pay?

Erin’s dad,

thank so much for your response.
I am SoCal resident.
I have also gotten into UCBerkeley and UCLA. and other colleges…

But UMIch is my #1.
I have emailed them and they are no longer giving more aids to non-residents.

but 88k debt, that is possible to be paid back over time right? I just need possible…

my dad s willing to pay 11k each yr, but even with that my debt will e easily over 88k by the time I graduate.
But I can pay that back right? over time…

but 88k debt, that is possible to be paid back over time right? I just need possible.

Yes, if you win the lottery.

Don’t be silly and say that you just need “possible”.

How much will you have to borrow for med school?

Go to Berkeley…use your head.

BTW…are you aware that you would need your parents to agree to co-sign those (ridiculously) large loans? If they won’t (if they’re smart), then this issue is closed.

Go to Berkeley…and pretend you’re in Ann Arbor. :-)

Go to UCB. No reason to pay that much for the same thing in a different state.
