<p>Having recently finished my applications to Ivy League schools in the States, I was surprised to receive this package in the mail. Basically, a plead for me to attend the University of Ottawa with a 40 000 $ scholarships, with letters from the President of the university, my assigned dean, etc. There were personal remarks about my ''outstanding academic achievements'' and the like.
Now, U of Ottawa is not comparable to the colleges I hope to attend next year, but how can I make my parents spread themselves in 10 to pay insane tuition fees when I literally have an offer of payment for attending a school 2 hours away from my home...</p>

<p>Thats if I even get in to the schools I'm applying to. </p>

<p>I guess the conclusion is that I have a good back-up now?</p>

<p>I’m a Canadian student and it kind of surprises me that there aren’t more Americans at our schools. For the cost they’re a bargain and the quality of education is pretty good and consistent across schools. They also tend to give out huge scholarships.</p>
