I was accepted to U of R in the school of sciences. I'm deciding between U of R, and RPI. I'd be a bio major (pre-med). Rochester gave me very little money, so I may not be able to afford it. I hope I will though!

I was also accepted. 99% sure I'm attending

99% either, just waiting for the financial aid package, and then I'll make the final decision.

Collegebound28, as far as I know, RPI is strong at engineering and business, but not pre-med. I am quite sure U of R has a much better pre-med program and acceptance rate. =)

And me i was accepted

SebmaFSX_53, I thought you would end up going to Brandeis or other schools!

yea but i said i was accepted to roch and suman didnt put my name on the list, and to be honest I'm leaning more towards rochester than Brandeis...SO its either Case or Rochester, i'm gunna visit in 2 weeks

Definitely UofRochester Class of 2010
College of Arts and Sciences - Intended Major: Neuroscience

SebmaFSX - yah for some reason Rochester has a nicer atmosphere than Brandeis =P hold on ill link you to a thread comparing case to roch.

Read Pages 2+3

Awakien, would you mind to tell me what else you got accepted by?

I'm just curious.

University of Rochester - Accepted - Nearly Free Ride
Brandeis University - Accepted
Boston University - Accepted w/ Scholarships
SUNY @ Albany - Accepted w/ Honors
SUNY @ Stony Brook - Accepted w/ Presidential Scholarship
SUNY @ Binghamton - Accepted

Case Western Reserve University - Waitlisted
Oberlin College - Waitlisted ( wah =( )

Cornell University - Rejected - the idea of being in classes of 300+ everyday, TOUGH ass classes, w/ cutthroat competition and impersonal professors at school of over 10,000 undergrads didnt sound too appealing to me anyway...

Plans: Attend UofR

Id like to add my grades suckk - i didnt really start shaping up till Junior year, but boy did i shape up =P
My complete stats are here:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=146557

your ECs are impressive! =)

WOW u got waitlisted at Case but nearly a full ride at Rochester?? How did that happen?

O and thx for the link Awakien. Thats interesting that Case is more career oriented that exactly the impression I got and also what I was going for. Case also gave me more than 3 times the merit aid that Rochester did so I'm really leaning towards Case...

SebmaFSX_53, have you recieved your financial aid package from UR yet?

Yea I got 5k deans scholarship and 2k federal work study and then 2,625 fed stafford loan so nearly 10k total. Thats why Case is more attractive.

Case gave me a 18,600 Provost Scholarship and then the same stafford loan for a total of over 21k.

Brandeis gave me a little more than Rochester (12K) but frankly I was very much put off by the campus.

I plan on getting a job right outta college and Case seemed to have great co-op and internship ops w/ big firms, thats what attracts me most...

I agree about the Brandeis campus - I visited last spring and, accept for the cool old "Castle" dorm, the campus was pretty drab. Very '70s and cold. Not that academics is predicated on the surroundings, but... its nice to be in a more traditional 'collegiate' atmosphere.

off topic!

FullThrottle, you have good stats. But, I was surprised to see that you were rejected or waitlisted by many schools (checking your past posts). This year is very competitive for almost every school, and it's hard to guess what adcoms're truly looking for! =/

SebmaFX, congrats on ur acceptances - I guess Case is for u then - best of luck to you! What job r u planning on getting out of college?
(i guess u wont be going for a doctorate/masters then?)

Behappy,

No kidding! Its tough to tell what they are thinking. Maybe I should have breezed through a regular course load instead of taking ALL AP classes for the past two years. But then again, it has better prepared me for the courses ahead.

Well for the moment (still subject to change), I hope to work for some International Organisation or "Think Tank", possibly go into banking or even consulting. I most probably will go back for a masters or doctorate but not right out of college. Of course, I may change my mind completely and go into something like biomed engineering.

Weather I go to Weatherhead or The Case school of engineering, I know that job ops are great in both thanks to a lot of hand on experiences (e.g. research, Co-op, Internships). They have single door admissions so the switch would be easy. I guess thats what attracted me the most.

So I imagine you're going to Rochester?

sounds cool SebmaFSX - but yah you never know where you might be 4 years from now =P

Yes I believe Ill be going to Rochester, im very happy with the money they gave me and the kind of education they have. I wish you the best at Case - I think you'll do great with what they have for you there! Case, like rochester, is another one of those best kept secrets out there for being a great school outside of the ives =P

As for me, It seems I'll most likely go from my undergraduate education directly into my PhD - but it would be very nice to be able to land a nice job somewhere in between undergrad and grad sooo I dunno xD. it is a bit too early to be thinking about this though, dont you think? ^^

Im kinda caught up on the idea of a possible transfer out though - kinda bad huh? Im still suffering from the blues of not even attemping the ivies/top liberal arts colleges (yes thats right, i didnt even try lol) so Im willing to give it a shot next year.
