I think another factor in whether you got your decision or not yet is if they received your mid year transcript. It says here (https://www.rochester.edu/bulletin/policies/admissions/apply/) that’s its required in order for them to review your application.
My kid that was accepted ACT 34, 4.0, will graduate with 32 dual enroll credits, pointy extracurricular resume that was called out personally in the acceptance letter. Well played URochester!
ETA - did update dual enroll transcript right after the holidays.
@cottoncandy1301 ah, maybe - midyear grades are just being sent out end of next week.
Congratulations to all that received acceptances today! Any internationals in today’s wave?
For those of you freaking out, check last year’s thread… it seems like only a few people got in this time last year, some didn’t hear back until mid-March… maybe because of mid year reports, or someone said that they accept the strongest applicants early to make them feel important? also, if you applied (& were denied) from their special degree programs, make sure to check your email and OPT IN to having your application considered for regular admission on the portal. My email flagged as junk so be sure to check your portal! It will be under “forms.” If this isn’t complete by february 20th, your application will be automatically withdrawn. best of luck to everyone!
I’m not convinced it has anything to do with mid-year reports. My first semester didn’t end until two days ago, so there is no way mine factored into my decision and I just got an email. Haven’t checked yet though, too nervous.
I got accepted! 1470 SAT, strong extracurriculars, and undergoing a research capstone project which was mentioned in the acceptance letter! I applied on Dec 1.
Also, they received my midyear grades this morning (date stamped on portal) so I doubt they factored in heavily.
Accepted! Just checked the portal because I saw the excitement on CC.

My son was accepted! He applied Dec 1. He has a 10k/year Bausch and Lomb scholarship. NYS resident
FWIW, S got his acceptance today as a double legacy. I assumed that the legacy part played a part in the early decision.
4.24/1510
My son was accepted today! He did not receive any mention of merit aid with his acceptance letter. I realize not everyone receives merit aid but does anyone know if UR sends merit aid information with acceptance letter or at a later date? Thanks for your help.
My daughter was accepted today OOS. ACT 35; SAT 1550. 3.98/4.7 gpa. 360 hour capstone research project. She looked really good holistically as a result of her essays and EC’s. We were totally not expecting to hear from Rochester until April! I really appreciated the personalized acceptance letter. Have never seen anything like that before. No mention of merit aid.
Accepted!

Rochester also mentioned in my decision letter that they prioritized applicants who showed independent self-direction. They wrote that they thought that my involvement in the founding of the medical club and my interest in research demonstrated this self-direction.
Son accepted from Texas. SAT 1580, SAT II 800,770. 4.6/5.0 GPA, rank 1/ ~430. EC’s student body pres, heavy choir / theater/ debate
@Chiwamom Was the B & L scholarship listed in the acceptance letter or is that the one that is awarded Junior year?
I submitted my application on December 1st but it says Rochester received it on the 2nd. Does it still count as priority deadline? Also, did everyone who applied before Dec 1st hear back? Thank you!
D19 was admitted today–yay! Eagerly await any merit award. Congrats to all admitted, and good luck to everyone.
D was accepted today. She’s so excited! 36 ACT, 4.8 GPA, 4.0 unweighted, top 3% of about 400, ECs: black belt in karate, and started nutrition bar company, SAT subject exams, Bio E 780, Math II 800, APs: 1x4 and 3x5. She worked very hard on essays. Really, really hoping for merit aid package!
It definitely doesn’t have to do with midyear report. I got my acceptance today and my guidance counselor hasn’t even sent my midyear report out yet.
No updates yet. I applied before Dec 1 and my school sent my mid-year report almost a month ago. I’m thinking this wave was totally random.
