U of R Class of 2023 Applicants Discussion

My daughter got in (RD) today!!! She submitted her application on Dec. 23. We visited U of R last summer and we were impressed by every aspect of the university. We are in CA.

@allikori No worries…I am in the same boat as well :frowning: . Looked on the thread from last year and there were a bunch of people who didn’t get it today that were accepted in later waves. Don’t worry and chillax for now XD

@putinator Hope so! Any idea when the next wave will be?

@allikori I hope it’s soon. Last year in the thread another wave came the next Friday so maybe next Friday? Let’s not lose hope yet! We can do it!

Feb 8th was the first wave and Feb 19th was the second wave last year.

@DumDeeDummm it is the one awarded junior year.

Was home late last night and just checked. I was accepted OOS from GA. 1470 SAT, 3.95/4.6 GPA, 12 AP classes all 5’s and two 4’s. Potential to swim on varsity swim team. Very excited! Anxiously awaiting to see if there will be any merit. Does anyone know when they release merit? Good luck to all.

@SwimSwam12, you will likely receive merit notification in a couple of weeks. Congrats! See two replies from last year’s thread.

“hi! i am a current UofR sophomore who was accepted in feb of 2016. i applied regular decision but happened to find out early. i have since found out that the school admits students they believe are overqualified before other students in order to show their desire to have them at the school. by admitting them earlier, they feel special and are more likely to attend. it is a smart decision by the admissions office!”

“I am a student accepted early decision 2. You typically receive info about merit aid (if you received it) from about 2-3 weeks from your acceptance date. I was accepted on January 18th, and received my merit on February 7th. Your merit does not appear in your acceptance letter that is mailed to you, but rather in your financial package when it comes in the mail. They will also email you if you have been chosen for merit and it will appear on your Myroc.”

hi! I just got accepted UR 2023 on the 8th! It’s my first choice school so I’m very excited. OOS, RD, 3.96W GPA, 33 ACT (34 combined), 1450 SAT, 11 APs overall. (I also submitted chem and math 2 subject tests but they were Not Good lol). My extracurriculars are okay, nothing too over the top except maybe placing in a few writing competitions. Something they emphasized in my acceptance letter was that they like the fact that I am planning on double majoring in two very different fields (ChemE and Creative Writing) because they want students to use their curriculum and be able to pursue more than just one area of study. Hope this helps someone out there!

Accepted on the 8th(RD)! Really excited! Here are my stats:
30 act
97.0807 gap
applied september 20
double legacy
Things they noted in my letter: When I studied abroad in tenth grade and how I want a global community that will still prepare me to be a woman in engineering

I didn’t get any updates. Is it because I submitted the application too late (about early Jan.)?

FWIW, the letter said that only one in four applicants would be accepted this year. Last year, I believe Rochester’s acceptance rate was just under 30%.

I got accepted RD! I’m from Oregon. Submitted my application 12/03.
SAT: 1490
SAT Subject Tests: English Literature (710) and US History (690)
GPA: 3.9 (UW) / 4.3 (W)
Extracurriculars: Piano Ensemble, Marian Singers (audition choir), LINK Mentorship director, Women’s Empowerment Week Director, Piano Lessons, Youth Leader for Thai Association of Oregon, NHS Member, TRI-M Member

Acceptance letter said they were impressed by the leadership I showed as director of my school’s LINK program. They said that Rochester fits me because I’m not afraid to serve as a leader when communities are having difficult conversations. (I wrote in my application about how I led a workshop about the model minority myth for my school’s UNITE day)

Good luck to everyone!

Hi all, I just received notification that I was awarded the Deans Scholarship for a $11,000 per year. Unfortunately I don’t qualify for Financial Aid. So while I am very grateful and appreciative for the scholarship, not sure that $11,000 off of $72,000 per year will move the needle on my decision?

Got my acceptance on friday, forgot to post that

@IndoBurma We just received an award for the Early Collegiate Scholarship. What we are not clear on is if that includes the Meliora Alumni Scholarship that we applied for separately.
