U of R Class of 2023 Applicants Discussion

I got the Rush Rhees Scholarship for $20,000 a year. Now I’m just waiting for financial aid to see if it will be affordable

son received Prince Street scholarship for 25,000  . Now waiting on financial aid as well.

Ok, so everyone only gets one merit scholarship, in case anyone else was wondering about stacking a Meliora Alumni on top of one.

Got the same (Rush Rhees)

My D got was informed this morning…
You have received the Rush Rhees Scholarship - $ 20000.

If I haven’t heard back yet does that mean I didn’t get a scholarship? and also when do you think I will hear an admissions decision if I had my interview last tuesday?

@amada1014

There will be a few more waves of admissions in Feb. and March. Some applicants got admitted on Feb. 19th and received merit scholarship later last year. My daughter got in Feb. 8th and she received Deans Scholarship for a $11,000 per year today but she will likely attend another school. Her scholarship would be given to another student. Good luck.

Admitted RD on the 8th and just heard back last night about my scholarship: George Eastman Young Leaders Award-$23,000/yr
Applied before Dec.1 (priority)
Interview: Yes
Stats:
SAT- 1410
Math II SAT- 760
GPA- 98.45/100
Bunch of EC’s including starting my own program at school and being a high ranking martial artist

To those still awaiting decisions or those who will see this in future years, DONT buy into the hype on SAT/ACT scores and things like that. Don’t be discouraged by seeing threads with people that have 1500+ and are AP/IB Scholars that are either getting denied and/or getting little scholarship money. I wasn’t an AP scholar nor did I have a 1500+ SAT but yet I still got a decent amount of money. It’s all about being a well rounded individual with some skills or passions that you can highlight in your app.

Can a student be awarded more than one merit scholarship (and in that case, apply only the larger one)?

The UR Scholarship page says you will only get one scholarship. Rochester admission to enrollment conversion is near 2.5-3. So makes sense to offer the biggest possible for your profile (alumni, state, robot, in, etc).

Just got the full financial package for the D. Nothing over 20K + Fed Direct Sun loan of 6.5K year as CSS profile puts at no aid.

2019-2020 listed at $75k per year. OUCH.

Did you get it in the mail or over email or in your portal?

Email. And access to their financial portal in the email. Very well drafted email that explains considerations and numbers.

Received some swag today - sweatshirts

Deferred ED1 and really hope to get in :-SS

So I applied to the REMS but got rejected, and then opted in for regular admission. Will I have less of a chance for scholarships as most of the scholarship money seems to Be going quickly?

Based off last year’s thread it looks like there will be another wave of early admits this week…they were released on the 19th monday last year so maybe today??
