I know, I know, I’ve seen a few discussions comparing these two schools already but my situation is a little different. I’m undecided but leaning towards BME, but still very unsure about that- I want to go into something “math-y or science-y” but the possibilities are endless. This is why Rochester is appealing to me, because of the open curriculum. However, they gave me 10,000 less in financial aid than Case, and I have yet to visit (I’m going to an admitted student day this week). Along with this, Rochester is 8 hours away from me, whilst Case is a 4 hour drive from home. Thoughts?
Case is slightly higher ranked than Rochester, but the difference is minimal. They are both academic equivalents, so it all depends which is a better fit. Cleveland is actually a better city than its reputation, while Rochester is on a long, slow death spiral. Good luck with your choice.
Son is making same choice can anyone say more about the two cities. Was funny that residents of both dissed the other. Someone from Rochester said Rochester is a small city with the attractions of a large city while Cleveland is a large city euth
@ew 1998 what are you deciding??
Cleveland is America’s Hottest City…

I’m committing to Case- the big factors in the end were cost and distance. Although Case only gave me a few thousand dollars more than Rochester, Case is a slightly cheaper school to begin with, and when I drove to Rochester, I realized just how infrequently I’d be able to see myfamily. And I know there’s a kind of stigma with Cleveland being sketchy and all, but it seemed like a great city when I visited and there’s more to do there than in Rochester.
I don’t think you’ll regret it. Sounds like a good call to me.
