heyy everyone,

i thought i'd love Macalester College, but when i visited i guess i was disappointed by the various uhm..."liberal" students i met. and in addition to everything my parents think it's a better school for me. but when i visited UR i really liked the people i met and the campus itself seemed college-like and welcoming...one downside to the college is however the fact that it's in rochester (suburban). i'm being opened minded about my major, but currently i'm registered under a chemistry major at both schools. Help?

The University of Rochester has an excellent chemistry program. U of R has a lot of preprofessional students so its a bit more on the serious side. Rochester has a lot of cultural and recreational opportunities. I think it is a great city...just the right size to be liveable and still have good restaurants, entertainment, theater, music, films, and so on.

What is it that you are looking for from the campus location/city?
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Rochester is highly diverse both racially and politically. The student body as a whole is moderate. Chemistry is great at Rochester and you will probably get a more well rounded college experience there.
