U of Rochester VS U of Richmond

Hi all,

I have been accepted to both University of Rochester and the University of Richmond for this coming fall! I just received my financial aid packages from both of them. However, my problem is that they’re so similar that I am a little hung up on where I want to go.
I want to get my degree in Accounting for a future career, but I also want to do acting/theatre while I’m at university as a non-major. I feel like I’d rather be in Rochester (closer to NYC) but Richmond would be fine as well.
I live in Ohio and need to figure out transportation as well (planning on having a car when the time comes for me to leave!), but if anyone has opinions on either of these colleges, feel free to let me know!

Thanks!
Nathan

Check out Google Maps. By road U Richmond and U Rochester are virtually the same driving time to New York City, about 5.6 hours. Either way driving and parking in NYC can be an expensive hassle. From Rochester Amtrak is an attractive option.

Though both of these schools offer excellent programs across a range of areas, in atmosphere they are pretty different. Richmond derives some of its social identity from Greek activity and D1 sports. Rochester offers a wide range of sports, and Greek options, but its identity is more academics-based.

Congratulations on your acceptances and choices!

Compare and contrast the 4-year progression of specific classes required for graduation at both schools.

Do they have restrictive general education or distribution requirements/
Dig deep into the course descriptions within your major, as well as the number of Accounting/Business faculty that you’ll have access to.

Are there any other subject that you hope to minor in that are outside of the business department? If so, will you be allowed to?

Both are terrific schools.
Good luck with your choice.

Do you have a preference for climate? Weather is quite different at these two schools.
