I was recently accepted into Trinity College at the University of Toronto as well as McGill.

Which should I choose? I am interested in the humanities (poli sci or English) and am considering law school in the long-term. I am American.

I am concerned that at either school I will not get much personal attention and the classes will be very large (at least compared to my American colleges).

Thoughts?

(I already started a similar thread in the McGill forum, but it was obviously biased so I started one here as well. I hope that is not ....gauche.)

I’m in a similar situation too! accepted to trinity and still waiting on mcgill. I did a bit of research and people usually say mcgill’s poli sci isn’t very strong, and generally the humanities aren’t mcgill’s forte (how reliable this is I’m have no clue). UofT had some interdisciplinary programs that looked pretty good to me, and I applied for the trinity one program, ethics stream. But then mcgill is cheaper (for me), arguably better regarded, and in a better city/environment. Normally I would choose mcgill (well if i do get in haha) but now I’m sort of considering trinity. I’m really interested in hearing more comments!

I have 3 Ds at U of T, two in undergrad and one in law school. None chose Trin, all were/are in Vic and all have loved their time at U of T. None has felt that they lacked personal attention. Although some first year classes, in some disciplines, can be large, upper year classes are small in comparison and they all have developed good relationships with some profs. U of T is a very good school with a beautiful campus in the middle of a terrific city, in my opinion a better one than McGill.

I was a poli sci major at Toronto and must say I found the program both challenging and strong. the only large classes I had were intro and international relations though the latter is supplemented with a very intimate tutorial once a week. The rest of my classes were generally under 25 students if not closer to 15. keep in mind in Canada U of T still has a better reputation, if only slightly so, than Mcgill.
