Anyone heard of what it type of grades/scores/EC's it takes to get offered one of these scholarships?

What kind of information is there on the website? How about contacting the scholarship office there and asking?

Do you suppose they will tell me? I know at Utah State they simply have a graph posted with GPA and SAT/ACT numbers and it tells you what you’ll get as an out of state applicant (in that case, it’s a full non-resident tuition paid that my son will receive).

Did you ever find out? I called and asked for the ACT score that would qualify for the automatic non-resident scholarship and they would not tell me. They said that scholarship info will be sent out in about 2 weeks. I asked what the cut off was last year, and they would not tell me that either.

^^they have changed everything this year about admissions so it makes sense they aren’t giving out alot of information.

I am also interested

As for the U (my DS will be a freshman there in the fall but we are Utah residents) here’s what a financial aid rep told me…and this is only for in-state residents. The absolute minimum ACT score is a 31 and they do not look at the individual sub scores. They will look at a bunch of other things (which they wouldn’t tell me). They said that need-based aid comes out towards the end of March (Could be delayed due to the sequester) and the engineering scholarships come out in May…So hang tight cuz alot of people are still waiting.

Nothing for OOS?

I wish I could tell you about oos but I don’t have that info.

Don’t know if this will help, but am happy to report that my son received the Full Tuition Non-Resident Scholarship with the following stats:

SAT - 2170, ACT - 32, Weighted GPA - 4.6, Unweighted GPA - 4.0, Four 5"s on AP Tests he has taken.

His EC’s included four year Volleyball Starter and Team Captain/MVP Junior/Senior Year, Honors Choir last three years (Treasurer Junior Year/President Senior Year), Top Math Tutor on campus, 400 Volunteer Hours, Six Missions Trips abroad (Christian, not Mormon) and several lesser honors/accomplishments.

Pretty good essays, but, to me, these are incredibly subjective since they are in the “eye of the beholder” (on any given day…).

Applied as Bioengineering Major (a highly regarded major at this Tier 1 Research University).

Congrats Exhausted Dad! When did your son hear back? My son is still waiting to hear about scholarships. He had a 31 on the ACT but a lower GPA at 3.4. Also, he applied for an Engineering Scholarships and I was told that he would be notified in late March about those. I hope that is correct and we don’t have to wait until May!

I think UU is one of his first choices right now, so I would love to hear what everyone thinks about the school. My son would be in the Engineering school as a CS major with an emphasis on Entertainment Arts & Engineering (game design/programming). UU is currently ranked #1 in undergrad game design programs by Princeton Review. We visited a few weeks ago and really like the experience.

Dd got oos full tuition. 31 act, 2050 sat, solid ecs. The u is making it tough to choose a school because of all the extra she’s been offered (honors housing, business programs, etc). Same with usu. Like location of u better than Logan, but money talks. gl
