U of Virginia and Tufts Chances?

Here are my stats:
-3.8 unweighted GPA and 4.4 weighted GPA.
-2160 SAT- 710CR, 670M, 780W
-SAT II: 710 on lit, 660 on Bio, planning on
retaking lit and taking spanish
-AP: 4 on English Comp, 4 on US hist. (taking Economics, English Lit, and Euro Hist this year)

I know my math scores are a little low but I'm applying to schools for liberal arts, and I make it clear that I am not looking to major in science or math-related fields. Writing is my greatest strength, so I am hoping that my CR and Writing scores will benefit me.

ECs:
-president of a county youth service organization
-founded a community service club at my high school
-editor for school newspaper
- mission trips
-Three years of varsity tennis (captain this year)
-Part-time jobs throughout high school
-National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Latin Honor Society

Anyway, my top two schools right now are Virginia and Tufts. Virginia is out of state for me. At Tufts, I am a legacy, and I'm not sure if that is much of a factor or not.

So what do you think?

If anyone’s interested i will chance you back if you want.

I would say for Tufts you’re certainly a match. UVa is difficult out of state.

Good luck.

Chance me please :)

Thanks… yea i mean ive definitely seen people get rejected from tufts with higher credentials but maybe the legacy helps. and i guess oos for virginia really hurts.

anyone else?

Your GPA and ECs are great. If you boost your math for the SATs by like 50 points, you’d be set for Virginia. Nvm just read that you’re gonna be in the liberal arts area. Maybe one more 700+ SAT II

Chance me back

Thanks… yea I’m hoping that my math score doesnt hurt me too much since i’m clearly not interested in math. Also i was wondering if people think it would be better for me to retake the SAT in october or take more SAT IIs?

chance me back plz

u should decide to early decision one of em and get commited to get a better chance
im not sure about UVA since im also applying there and i have a similar GPA as u but u got better SAT scores

but Tufts definitely ull get in

thanks… too bad uva doesnt have early decision

I think both are tough. The writing score is not really used, so you’re talking about a 1380, which, even with good grades, probably is not good enough for OOS/UVA and Tufts. I’m told that, more than most schools, Tufts really gives great weight to the essays. Consider applying ED to Tufts.
