U of W vs. Psu

i'm an international student. My major is Mech. Engg.

I've got no aid from either of them. And location doesn't matter.

UWash as a university is ranked way ahead of psu(UP) in rankings but my major is ranked higher in psu.

Which one should I go to ?

Which school do you mean by “PSU”?

Note that most rankings tend to be weighted toward the graduate programs. Are you looking for undergrad? And are you already admitted to ME at UW?

I mean Penn State University, University Park.

yes i’m an undergrad and no i am not currently admitted to ME at UW

So if you are guaranteed to be in ME at Penn State, and really don’t have any strong preferences between the two, I think that would decide it for me. You do run the risk of not getting accepted into ME at UW.

From what people tell me, getting accepted into ME at UW is not at all difficult.

so other than that, UW is better, right?

How hard is it really, to get ME at UW?
And what year do you get it sophomore or junior?

Look here on the timing and process:

[UW Mechanical Engineering Department - Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.me.washington.edu/prospective/undergraduate/)

I can’t find any stats, but they do say this:

“The average GPA for students accepted to the program has been approximately 3.6.”

You might also look at the curriculum at UW vs. PSU, do you get to start on ME classes right away at PSU, or are you just filling pre-reqs and general ed?

no i have gotten general engg at penn state
