U Penn fashion?

I’m currently in high school, but have high hopes to get into UPenn. I know this may sound stupid, but what’s the general fashion style like there, and in college in general, compared to high school? Is the major theme conservative and “intellectual”, or preppy, or wild? Please don’t attack me, I’m just a little curious.

I pretty sure you can dress however you want, basically. Someone schools would be more preppy than others, but I'm sure you could find people dressed every way, especially at a school as large as Penn.

every school has their niches

God forbid one reached his or her college and was deemed...

so
last
season.

^^^^ Omg My Evil Twin!!!

campus is pretty preppy....whatever people tell you about niches and what not....when u see campus you will agree that it is very preppy...that is for both guys and girls just in case u were wondering that also

I would choose the term Urban Chic and not preppy.......this is an urban campus and many kids dress to that. I know kids who wear t-shirts and jeans to class but I don't ever wear a t-shirt although I do wear jeans. A collared shirt at the least and you will see many dress shirts w/o tie. Just a heads up. Blazers with hoodies underneath are big for guys, with jeans and forget the gym clothes except at the gym.

One word: niches. Whatever you want to wear, there will be 1000 other people wearing similar stuff. I don't know about hazmat, but I for one could not live without t-shirts.

I have my own style of 'collegiate generic' that is dictated by my chronic shortage of laundered clothes...definitely not preppy. It consists of novelty tshirts, Penn gear...and everything else was fished from a bargain bin at some point.

wear whatever.

I'm just wondering: Do Penn students actually wear Penn paraphernalia to class? I can understand about wearing them to sports games...

Heck yes...almost everyone has a Penn hoodie and some Penn t-shirts.

Most people have Penn sweatpants too..and of course some Penn hats.

I myself rock a sweet Penn windbreaker on top of a Penn Glee Club fleece

Good to know!

Penn Gear is insanely popular. The bookstore makes a killing on those $50 hoodies.

thankyou all for your insight! i really appreciate it!

i was in the office and i was talking to my guidance counselor , right after i got my acceptance from penn. (like late december)

another guidance counselor walked in and looked at my outfit an A+F sweatshirt, ripped jeans w/ pajama pants underneath and just goes... "youre gonna need a new wardrobe if youre going to penn"

to which i replied "youre gonna need a new attitude, i dont even know you"

i was written up for a detention, but after her statement was explained, it was forgotten about... :)

but i dont plan on changing my staaaaaaaayle.

Nice response AJ42288 ! Way to speak your mind lol

yes, quite the fitting thread for my little anecdote.

p p p p penn 2010 10 10 10 10

penn is definitely preppy...you see many many plaid shorts, nantucket reds, pastel polos (popped), etc. A lot of people look like they walked out of a polo catalog.

what is "nantucket red"?

yeah, this penn student also wants to know :)
