<p>It may not be the same every year. '09 mandatory essay was Why Penn? while '10 narrowed it down to social groups/activities. So I would still wait until the topic comes out to write rather than to try to fit your essay to fit the topic that comes out.</p>
<p>My guess is also August 1. The only way to apply to Penn is CommonApp (I don’t think they do Universal anymore), and all the supplements are on CommonApp.</p>

<p>Do you guys think the optional “Write page 217 of your autobiography” question will remain the same? I’ve already written my page 217, just for fun, and I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about possible topics, so I’d hate for that to change.</p>

<p>You guys know it’s really not that big of a deal. I started my app on December 26 and I’m M&T, Ben Franklin Scholars, and Joseph Wharton Scholars. Try to enjoy your summers and have some experiences worth writing about, rather than rushing to get them all done- trust me, admissions counselors look favorably upon interesting summers.</p>
