U Penn Transfer - Computer Science

<p>I'm a freshmen at the University of Mississippi Honors College, and I'm applying for transfer to U Penn because Ole Miss's CS program isn't all that great, and U Penn's is, and also because U Penn has a high transfer acceptance rate than other Ivies. I want you to "chance" me, taking into consideration that I'm coming from Ole Miss and not another top 20 school. Also, give me any general tips about transferring that you may have. </p>

<p>Here are my stats:
College:
Freshmen
4.0 GPA after 1 semester
Highly ranked honors college
Dean's honor roll
Lucky Day scholar
Reasonable amount of community service
No ECs to speak of, but I'll work on that this semester</p>

<p>High School:
3.8 GPA
Low ranking (that's why I didn't get into these schools in the first place) - top 15%
32 ACT
2180 SAT (700 CR, 700 M, 780 R)
Loads of ECs - band president, cross country, track, math and science team, other stuff i'm too lazy to remember
Loads of community service - church, park projects, yada yada
4 different part time jobs - sometimes overlapping</p>

<p>I’d say that you do have a shot, you probably want to keep up with your academics so you can show a 4.0/deans list coming into the school. A lot of it will probably also depend on your essays/recs. I’d work on buttering up your professors, the ones who know you so that they can write a good rec for you.</p>
