So after considering financial aid I've decided that I will be attending U Penn this fall :-) But I will not have had a chance to actually visit the campus. Can anyone tell me anything about campus life that their website cant??

The campus looks wayyy better in person than it does in the gawd-awful pictures they’ve used on the website.

Congratulations and welcome to Penn!

wow that’s cool. What’s the average weather during fall/winter/summer?

If you’re used to a warm and/or dry climate, well you might find that Penn sucks a little in terms of weather…

Why is penn the social/party ivy?

because the frat parties are actually good?

philadelphia has great weather. there are actually FOUR seasons!

the website’s pictures are awful.

^^Actually I think there’s a distinction. Dartmouth is the “party ivy” while Penn is the “social ivy”…

why are we the social ivy?

penn kids do party a tonnnn.

I think Dartmouth just has a much bigger Greek life than any of the other Ivies or something?

I recommend wearing a blindfold so you don’t have to see the other Penn kids. Yuck.

what sets apart the party scene at dartmouth and penn? Penn seems very party-like according to testimonials and such

Well generally, parties are mostly cool but some are at Penn.

Social, party, it’s a matter of semantics. Penn has a very social student body, and lots of parties. It’s also one of the planet’s best universities :)

So it is considered the “social ivy”, But I’ve heard “the most social ivy is still an ivy” basically saying it’s not a fun school no matter what. Can anyone attest to this or refute it?

It’s a shame you can’t come to Penn previews or you wouldn’t even have that severely mistaken perception of the place.

^ So, wait. Is Penn where fun goes to die? Or is that at UChicago.

UChicago!

i think i really want to go there for grad school.
i’ll first get all the partying out of my system at penn and then move to the land where fun goes to die…:)

Penn was just awesome when I went to visit last Friday. The student panel session was especially entertaining as they threw out all the parents and discussed partying, activities, having fun, etc. Penn definitely seems like it can be as chill as say NYU, Penn State, etc while at the same time offering a very intelligent and accomplished student body.
